Meet the team
St Andrew’s Music School was founded in 2025 by Alexander Trigg and Lucy Bunce. Read on to learn more about them and their wonderful colleagues.

Alexander Trigg
When he’s not busy working at SAMS, or teaching organ and piano to many of its students, Alex enjoys a diverse freelance career as an organist and director. He holds roles with a number of choirs, such as Cambridge Philharmonic, and the University’s most exciting new ensemble, Cambridge Schola. Forthcoming recitals include St George’s Hanover Square and St Paul’s Cathedral in London. Alex also runs Festival of Choirs, a company which brings together choirs from around the world to perform large-scale concerts in magnificent venues. Their debut Festival, Cambridge 2026, will end with Haydn’s Creation in St Alban’s Cathedral.
Alex is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, and a former Organ Scholar of both St John’s College, Cambridge, and St George’s Chapel, Windsor. He continues his professional development as an Advanced Postgraduate student at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Lucy Bunce
Lucy is currently Director of Music and Communications at St Andrew’s Church, as well as running the church’s weekly Cafe and Social Supermarket. She is delighted to support Alex and his team in this new venture of the St Andrew’s Music School.
Lucy grew up in a house full of music: one of her earliest memories is standing by her father and singing while he played the piano. She was encouraged to sing at local poetry and folk evenings from the age of four with him accompanying on guitar. Lucy learned to play the piano and oboe as a young girl, and at ten began studying the harp at the Bexley Music Centre. She studied for a music degree at King’s College London before moving to Cambridge. Here, she qualified as a Music Therapist, before teaching at King’s College School, Cambridge, and then as Director of Music at St Faith’s School. She has also maintained a career as a professional musician and composer, releasing five solo albums now available on iTunes, and performing her NHS Blessing on Songs of Praise.
Lucy recently completed a Masters in Theology with the University of St Andrew’s, receiving a distinction and academic prize for her dissertation on the Distinctive Diaconate in the Church of England. She is now training for the ministry and is due to be ordained in June 2027. lucybunce.com.
